Slavic Girls

Slavic Girls is a series of photographs accompanied by a three-volume Magazine that deals with the gender construction of the Slavic women. Each volume presents a female character, her symbols, and her role in Slavic mythology:
Rusalka—represents sexuality.
Poludnisa—represents motherhood.
Vila—represents recklessness.
This project dealing with the feminine myth as a central cultural force, and argues that the modern Slavic culture and its social structures rely on ancient mythological female figures. Therefore each character explores a different aspect in which the Slavic women perceive themselves and their role in our society from an early age to modern times.
